Thickness controlled proximity effects in C-type antiferromagnet/superconductor heterostructure

چکیده
Modulation of the superconducting state possessing a C-type antiferromagnetic phase in the Nd0.35Sr0.65MnO3/YBa2Cu3O7 heterostructure is investigated, with the Nd0.35Sr0.65MnO3 thickness (t) varying from 40 to 200 nm. Both the superconducting transition temperature and the upper critical field along the c-axis decrease with increasing t; while the in-plane coherence length increases from 2.0 up to 3.6 nm. Meanwhile, the critical current density exhibits a field-independent behavior, indicating an enhanced flux pinning effect. Furthermore, low-temperature spin canting induces a breakdown and re-entrance of the superconductivity, demonstrating a dynamic completion between the superconducting pairing and the exchange field. An unexpected colossal magnetoresistance is observed below the superconducting re-entrance temperature at t = 200 nm, which is attributed to the dominant influence of the exchange field over the pairing energy.

Local density of states in a dirty normal metal connected to a superconductor.
A superconductor in contact with a normal metal not only induces superconducting correlations, known as the proximity effect, but also modifies the density of states at some distance from the interface. These modifications can be resolved experimentally in microstructured systems. We therefore study the local density of states N(E ,x) of a superconductor–normal-metal heterostructure. We find a ...
متن کاملTriplet Josephson effect with magnetic feedback in a superconductor-ferromagnet heterostructure.
We study the ac Josephson effect in a superconductor-ferromagnet heterostructure with a variable magnetic configuration. The system supports triplet proximity correlations whose dynamics is coupled to the magnetic dynamics. This feedback dramatically modifies the behavior of the junction. The current-phase relation becomes double periodic at both very low and high Josephson frequencies omegaJ. ...
متن کاملProximity Effects in Superconductor-ferromagnet Heterostructures
The very special characteristic of the proximity effect in superconductor-ferromagnet systems is the damped oscillatory behavior of the Cooper pair wave function in a ferromagnet. In some sense, this is analogous to the inhomogeneous superconductivity, predicted long time ago by Larkin and Ovchinnikov (1964), and Fulde and Ferrell (1964), and constantly searched since that. After the qualitativ...
متن کاملMagnetoresistance of a two-dimensional electron gas in a random magnetic field.
We report magnetoresistance measurements on a two-dimensional electron gas (2DEG) made from a high mobility GaAs/AlGaAs heterostructure, where the externally applied magnetic field was expelled from regions of the semiconductor by means of superconducting lead grains randomly distributed on the surface of the sample. A theoretical explanation in excellent agreement with the experiment is given ...
متن کاملNonlocal thermoelectric effects and nonlocal Onsager relations in a three-terminal proximity-coupled superconductor-ferromagnet device.
We study thermal and charge transport in a three-terminal setup consisting of one superconducting and two ferromagnetic contacts. We predict that the simultaneous presence of spin filtering and of spin-dependent scattering phase shifts at each of the two interfaces will lead to very large nonlocal thermoelectric effects both in clean and in disordered systems. The symmetries of thermal and elec...
